Company History

October 2008

Primary Carbon Aggregator Ltd, the company which will shortly become Carbon 350 Ltd is incorporated at Companies House with registration number 6733197. The name change actually occurs on 31st March 2009.

November 2008

At a Venture Capital Event, Nick Dimmock, Managing Director of Carbon 350 meets John Nicol for the first time. John began his working life as an Electronics Design Engineer. In 1972 he founded Norbain Electronics Ltd. The company was taken public via the USM in 1984 and over the next decade became the largest distributor of CCTV in Europe and one of the largest manufacturers in the UK. When John sold his interests in 2006 the company was capitalised at £60m, was fully listed on The London Stock Exchange , employed some 600 people and he was the Chairman with circa 30% shareholding. Discussions for investment continued culminating in a final agreement in Bexley, Kent in late December 2008. John became Chairman of Carbon 350 Ltd in 2009.

January 2009

Carbon 350 established corporate headquarters on the 16th Floor of The Oxygen Building; one of the most environmentally friendly buildings of its time, the Oxygen building uses 3 ground heat pumps to warm the building.

 March 2009

Carbon 350 undergoes a name change from Primary Carbon Aggregator to Carbon 350 Ltd. The new name reflects the company’s objective to be a full service project developer concerned not only with broking carbon credits, but with developing and financing projects as well. ‘Carbon 350’ is seen as a proclamation for the reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million from the current 390 parts per million. 350 parts per million of CO2 per 1 Million parts of air is the highest recommended levels of CO2 to promote a healthy normal climate. As the proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere (regrettably) enjoys a linear relationship with global temperatures, it is felt that “Carbon 350” captures the root of the climate change problem and is an exceptionally strong brand going forward.
